Services Offered To Birth Mothers At AFTH
Pregnant women who are interested in learning more about their options can obtain supportive family planning counseling through AFTH. Each potential option is covered, including abortion, adoption, and parenting.
If a woman chooses to pursue domestic adoption with the agency, the AFTH team will assist with finding housing, finding legal assistance, and with obtaining the necessary medical care for both mother and child.
Supportive counseling is available 24/7 as is group counseling for as long as a birth mother feels that she needs it.
Services Offered To Adoptive Parents At AFTH
AFTH is happy to help qualifying individuals and couples build their family through domestic adoption.
The adoption team provides help with the required home studies, help with creating the family profile that will be viewed by birth mothers, and post placement visits once a placement has occurred.
Additionally, the agency is able to provide information on potential financial and legal resources that could help the adoption process.
Services Offered To Adoptees At AFTH
Lifelong support is provided to adoptees at adoptions from the heart. In addition to supportive counseling, AFTH hosts an annual picnic during which a yearly visit with birth mothers may take place. Adoptees are also provided with reconnection services if the involved parties fall out of touch.
Am I Qualified To Adopt Domestically?
Adoptions From The Heart has the following requirements for anyone who is interested in the open adoption program:
1. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
2. Applicants must be able to provide for a child without financial assistance from the state.
3. Applicants must be willing to agree to the minimum requirements of open adoption. Although not all birth mothers ultimately want an open adoption, the minimum requirements include the exchange of first names, letters, and a yearly visit. This visit can take place during the annual AFTH picnic.
The Adoptions From The Heart does offer services to clients without regard to race, color, religion, ancestry, sex,
marital status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender
expression, age or limited English proficiency.
